How do you recommend using the 5.4% solution?

2

I’ll share how I personally use it for my own distance training! I usually mix up one full bottle of the 5.4% solution before I head out. If I’m going for a run, I take half the bottle with me on the road and leave the other half in the fridge to drink for post-run recovery. If I’m heading out for a bike ride, I just take the whole bottle with me on the bike to sip throughout the ride.

How do you use the 7.1% formula on race days?

3

I save the 7.1% for race days and heavy 80+ mile rides. Here is my exact routine:

  • For Runs: I drink half the mix on the way to the start line. I keep the rest in my pocket, sipping every 5-6 miles, and grab plain water from an aid station from time to time just to refresh my mouth.

  • For Long Bike Rides: I mix one full 500ml bottle of the 7.1% formula. I used to dilute it with extra water to make it easier to drink, but that completely ruins the precise osmolality! Now, I carry that 500ml bottle exactly as mixed for pure fuel, and bring a second bottle of plain water on the bike to handle my hydration.

Can I use both the 5.4% and 7.1% formulas on the same day?

4

Yes, I actually highly recommend it! Using them together gives you the perfect balance of hydration and maximum energy. Here is why the two-bottle strategy works so well:

  • Before & After (The 5.4%): The lower osmolality of the 5.4% formula is perfect for hydration and baseline energy. Drinking it before the race primes your system without causing a massive insulin spike. Drinking it after the race replenishes your glycogen smoothly without overwhelming a tired stomach.

  • During the Race (The 7.1%): When you are in the middle of a heavy effort, your body needs pure fuel. The 7.1% provides a much higher concentration of clean carbohydrates to keep you going, without causing the dreaded "gut rot."

My Race Day Routine: I mix one full bottle of each solution. I sip from the 5.4% bottle before the race starts, and I save the rest of it for my recovery afterward. During the race itself, I carry the 7.1% bottle to use purely as my heavy-duty fuel.

What makes you different?

5

  • 5.4% Formula: 28g of carbohydrates. This is optimized for rapid hydration and steady baseline energy.

  • 7.1% Formula: 35g of carbohydrates. This is a denser concentration built strictly to fuel heavy, sustained efforts without weighing down your stomach.

How many carbohydrates are in each formula?

Because we solved the "gut rot" problem. Instead of using traditional maltodextrin that sits heavy in your stomach, we formulated our drinks using Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin (HBCD). By locking in our formulas at precise 5.4% and 7.1% osmolality levels, we created a clean energy source that actually absorbs efficiently. You get steady endurance without the massive insulin spikes or sickly sweet taste.
